OUR HISTORY

Since 2021, our pieces have been designed and handcrafted in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – an iconic historical crossroads.

A graduate in History from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Juliana Freitas, the brand's founder, is a self-taught designer responsible for the creation and manufacturing of all pieces, always devoting special attention to handcrafting metal. Since childhood, she has been influenced by her father's collection of metal sculptures, made by a Spanish blacksmith, which blended medieval design with the textures and vibrancy of tropical landscapes. JBJK's pieces are inspired by the hermetic philosophy of polarity, exploring the duality of human experience and materials, combining rigid metals with soft fabrics, exploring humanity's deep connection to these elements. Each piece has a story and intention. Juliana was a young ambassador for the Homo Faber Design and Crafts exhibition at the 2024 Venice Biennale and was part of singer Lady Gaga's costume team during her visit to Rio de Janeiro. Through craftsmanship, the designer celebrates the legacy of human culture at JBJK, combining with Savoir Faire to weave memory, beauty, and elegance into each creation.
